REGISTRATION FOR 2017 CHINA WORLD SUMMIT WING, BEIJING VERTICAL RUN IS NOW OPEN!

China World Summit Wing, Beijing’s tallest building, will once again be the site of the capital city’s highest stair climbing race, the “China World Summit Wing, Beijing Vertical Run”. On August 26, participants will have the tough challenge to climb 330 metres and 82 floors if they want to cross through the finish line and enjoy the view at the top.

Stair climbing, first known as “vertical races” in the 1970s, is now a global sport with stair climbing clubs hailing from the US, Canada, Europe and Asia as well as professional athletes who train year-round to be the first to reach the top of the world’s tallest buildings. Although still a relatively new sport, stair climbing has quickly caught on with fitness enthusiasts attracted not only by the physical demands of this grueling sport but by also the novelty of competing in unique urban settings – the world’s tallest structures, some of the tallest of which are located here in Asia.

Race organisers are aiming to attract 950 participants for all categories. “We are pleased to be bringing the race back to Beijing and look forward to continuing to organise the China World Summit Wing, Beijing Vertical Run next year and into the future,” said David Shin of event organisers Sporting Republic.

“The buzz around the race is being felt within the sporting community,” said Shin. “We are anticipating a sell-out and encourage runners to sign up now so they don’t miss the chance to be a part of the incredible celebration.”
